Mild weather across major PJM cities helped keep today’s observed load moderate through HE14. Temperatures were generally in the low-to-upper 60s at the daytime highs, including Newark near 67°F, Philadelphia near 66°F, Columbus near 67°F, Pittsburgh near 65°F, Chicago near 64°F, Richmond near 63°F, and Washington DC near 62°F. That limited cooling demand, with actual load peaking so far at 87.1 GW in HE9, while the full-day forecast still points to a higher evening peak near 94.1 GW in HE19 as solar output rolls off.

Through HE14, actual load consistently ran below forecast, while solar materially underperformed the midday forecast despite rising into early afternoon. Real-time prices were modestly above day-ahead on average, with the strongest real-time move occurring in HE9 as solar output missed forecast and actual net load came in above the day-ahead expectation.
