Insights
Hot late-afternoon weather across the major ERCOT load centers supported the system peak, with actual load reaching 78.5 GW in HE17 as Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio were in the mid-90s and Houston was near 90°F. Load then eased into the evening, but net load continued to rise as solar output declined.
HB_BUSAVG real-time pricing was consistently below day-ahead, with DA LMP averaging $32.96/MWh versus RT LMP at $26.16/MWh, producing an average DART of +$6.80/MWh. The strongest real-time price hour was HE19 at $37.52/MWh, but the move was moderate rather than a major scarcity-style spike, as renewable output and dispatchable generation were sufficient through the evening ramp.
